A few days before COP 28, Jean-Paul Adam, former Director of Climate Change and Technology department at the United Nations Economic Commission For Africa, was the guest this week of the podcast “Your Voice” on Radio Era Environnement.

For the past few months, he has been at the head of a department responsible for advising the UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser for Africa . Through his new role in this office of the Special Adviser on Africa ( OSAA), the former Director of the Climate and Technology Department of the Economic Commission for Africa, returns to the role of this structure dependent on the United Nations, explains the challenges and opportunities in Africa.

In 2022, he explains on Radio Era Environnement how to understand blue and green bound and takes the example of his country, Seychelles. He gaves also solutions to recover from COVID 19 in Africa, by integrating the needs of the African governments.

This year in June, he was in Comoros Islands as a Director of the Climate and Technology, natural resources Department of the Economic Commission for Africa. He explains the opportunities of the blue economy in the western Indian Ocean region through the  Great Blue Wall initiative, an initiative to unlock the potential of the blue economy and address the effects and the solutions of climate change in the Western Indian Ocean region.

In this podcast, ahead of COP 28, he looks back at the difficulties of access to finance and renewable energy in Africa and provides solutions. He also looks back on concrete cases he followed at the United Nations Economic Commission for questions about community concerns on access to the carbon market.
